Ways to Serve
We work with people across our community to feed the hungry, clothe the needy and share love and comfort in the name of Jesus. To learn about ways that you can connect with our service projects, please contact the church office at office[at]pafumc[dot]org or 360-452-8971.
Each Friday, cooking teams from across the Port Angeles community prepare and serve a free hot dinner in the Social Hall. First UMC has hosted the Friendship Dinner for over 25 years. All are welcome — Fridays at 5:30 pm.
Prayer Shawl Circle
Yarn crafters gather for fellowship and to create prayer shawls that share the love and warmth of God and our congregation with those in need. This group meets on Tuesdays at 2 pm in the Parlor.
A ministry of United Methodist Women, the Clothes Closet provides free clothing to those in need. Donations of clean, gently used clothes are always welcome, as are volunteers to help sort and organize the clothes. The Clothes Closet is located on the first floor of the church’s East Wing and is open and staffed on Monday and Wednesdays from 1pm to 3pm.
Home Building and Re-building
This church has a long history of helping build homes across our county and state. In recent years, work teams have made several week-long trips to eastern Washington to aid in recovery from devastating wildfires and to a number of Habitat for Humanity construction sites in Clallam County.
MANNA (Ministry Assisting Neighbors in Need with Agape) MANNA is a partnership of several Port Angeles churches that works to provide emergency support to those in need.
Global Missions through the United Methodist Church
Through the worldwide connection of the UMC, we actively support a number of global and national ministries. We have long ongoing relationships with the Jamaa Letu orphanage in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), and Katherine Parker, a missionary and health and water safety expert in Nepal. We also support numerous other missions of the UMC.
