Frequently Asked Questions
What’s your worship like?
We gather at 10am each Sunday for worship. Our services are traditional in style, with hymns, scripture readings, prayers, a sermon, special music, and other elements. During the school year, a choir provides special music; in summer we feature musicians from our congregation and community. An usher will give you a bulletin (printed worship guide), which contains the full service details and information about things like upcoming events. Words to the songs, scriptures and other worship elements will be found in the bulletin or hymnals available at each pew.
Will there be a chance to introduce myself or talk with people?
Absolutely! We tend to be a rather outgoing congregation, so you’ll probably have at least a couple people greet you. There’s no obligation to interact or chat though – you simply come as you are.
Everyone is invited to a coffee social (includes tea and other goodies too) immediately following the service, held in the church Social Hall. All are welcome!
How should I dress?
That’s up to you! Some dress very casually, and others come in their “Sunday best.” Our advice: be comfortable. You’ll fit in just fine.
Where is the nursery?
Our nursery/playroom is located two doors down the hall from the Sanctuary. We do not currently have a nursery staff person, but please let an usher know if you would like to use the nursery. Children and their voices are always welcome in worship.
Is there Communion during worship? Can I participate?
We celebrate communion once a month on the first Sunday of the month.
United Methodist churches have an “open table” approach to celebrating Communion. All persons are invited to participate…and we really do mean all – children too. The Communion liturgy (that is, prayers, words spoken by the clergy, etc.) can vary slightly from month to month, but you’ll always be guided by the worship bulletin. The ushers will direct you when it’s time to come forward to receive Communion. When you reach the front of the line, you’ll be given a small piece of bread to dip into the cup of grape juice before consuming.
Gluten free bread is always available, as are packets of sealed, single-serving Communion elements. You are also welcome to not receive communion. Simply remain seated if you would prefer
Is there an offering? Where does it go? Is it tax-deductible?
Your presence among us is a gift, and there is no pressure to give an offering when you attend. However, if you wish to do so, an offering plate will be at the table where you receive your bulletin when you come in, so you can place your donation there. You can also donate online by clicking the button at the top of our web page.
Our gifts and offerings go toward all of our general expenses, from the staff and building to our programs and mission projects. Offerings also support local and global ministries, such as Habitat for Humanity of Clallam County or UMCOR, (the United Methodist Committee on Relief.)
All donations are tax-deductible. We send out quarterly and annual statements to donors.
Do you have Sunday school?
We have not yet resumed Sunday School since the Covid-19 shutdown. Please let an usher know if you are interested in Sunday School, or call the church office at 360-452-8971 to inquire.
